Bruce Leon Pledges to Champion Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek Communities in Congress
Skokie, IL - At the Assyrian Food Festival in Morton Grove yesterday, Bruce Leon today heralded Israel’s recognition of the genocides committed against the Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek peoples during the final years of the Ottoman Empire in the 20th Century, calling it “a vital act of truth-telling and solidarity” — and pledged to carry that commitment forward in Congress.

“The Armenian, Assyrian, and Greek peoples endured unimaginable suffering and loss, yet they preserved their faith, their culture, and their traditions with extraordinary resilience,” Leon said. “Just as the world must never forget the Holocaust, we must ensure these genocides are remembered with the same moral clarity. As Congressman, I will fight all forms of religious and cultural discrimination including antisemitism— because remembrance must always lead to justice.” Leon pledged that, if elected, he will:
Establish and grow an Assyrian Caucus in Congress, ensuring Assyrian voices are represented in Washington.
Be an active member of the Armenian and Hellenic Caucuses, standing shoulder to shoulder with communities that remain underrepresented in Congress despite their strength and presence in Illinois’ 9th District.
